This a novel in vivo study compared the bioactivity of ethanol or aqueous leaves extract (ELE/AQLE) of Morniga oleifera. The ELE is more efficient in mitigation cardiac cytotoxicity of cyclophosphamide (CYP), the most common anticancer drug. The CYP is one of the most invasive chemotherapeutic agents has a broad spectrum of antitumor activity in clinical treatment of human cancer. CYP duration and dose produced many side effects of cardiac toxicity. Compared to the control group, the body weight, hematological parameters, anti-apoptotic markers and antioxidant enzymes decreased in CYP-treated rats group. Compared to control and other treated groups (lipid profiles, cardiac enzymes, anti (inflammatory, oxidants, apoptotic) markers were increased. The histopathology showed that ELE smoothed injuries of cardiac tissues caused by CYP more than AQLE. Administrated moringa leaf extract with CYP ameliorated cardiac toxicity, oxidative stress, cardiac enzymes, lipid profiles and anti-apoptotic markers. Moringa leaf extract protected heart structure and functions against CYP-induced injury through antioxidant and anti-apoptotic activities.
